IROQUOIS (4-6 in 2015)
Coach: Chris Peters (first year).
Starters back: Offense 2, defense 2.
Class: 5-A, District 4.
Players to watch: Senior Le Ton Bray (5-10, 260) started at both guard and defensive tackle last season. Peters called the senior a “jumbo athlete,” who could be capable of playing linebacker. Junior Cory Foster is a bit undersized (5-5, 165), but the safety/receiver is speedy and offers good ball skills on defense.
Other top players: S/RB Justin Jenkins (Sr.), RB/LB Darion Sherfield (Jr.).
Outlook: Peters, who served as the offensive coordinator last year at Shawnee, takes over a team that will need to replace almost all of its starters and has just seven seniors on the roster. However, Peters believes his team has the front-line talent to compete, but depth might be an issue. He planned to scour the Iroquois halls once school started to see if he could land a few more kids. “I think we’re realistically a year away,” he said from being a district contender.
