To find someone who goes above and beyond to support high school athletes’ success, look no further than Butler High’s Sonny Ingram.
The assistant athletic director also serves as head of security and on the grounds crew and in just about any other role he’s needed at Butler, where he has been since 1997.
He’s at events early to help set them up, and he’s there late tearing them down. He also helps get fields ready, cuts grass and does landscaping around the school grounds. If you’ve been to a Butler game, you’ve probably also seen him taking tickets and cheering on the Bears.
For his role in ensuring Butler athletes’ success, Ingram was named the recipient of the Heart & Soul Award on Tuesday at The Courier-Journal Kentuckiana Sports Awards Banquet presented by Norton Sports Health. The award goes to someone who goes the extra mile to support high school athletes’ on-field and in-the-classroom success.
