In its first trip to Northern Kentucky University’s BB&T Arena, the Girls Sweet 16 basketball tournament has seen an attendance drop over the first two days when compared to the past three years when the event was held in Bowling Green, Ky.
Despite a crowd of 5,697 during Wednesday’s night session – the largest crowd of any first-round session over the past four years – average attendance over the first two days of this year’s tournament is 3,944.5. That’s a drop from last year’s average of 4,724.3 over the first two days of the tournament held at E.A. Diddle Arena in Bowling Green, Ky.
Attendance could get a boost Friday afternoon as area teams Campbell County and Holmes are both playing in the quarterfinals.
