Mikayla Berry scored 26 points, hitting 9 of 10 free throws, to lead the Owensboro Catholic High School girls basketball team to a 69-49 victory over Harlan on Thursday in the first round of the St. Elizabeth Healthcare/KHSAA Sweet 16 at BB&T Arena.
Annabel Moore added 15 points and Caroline Hayden added 13 points, six rebounds and three steals for the Aces, who never trailed and finished 26 of 38 (68.4 percent) from the free-throw line.
Owensboro Catholic advanced to face No. 7 Murray (34-1) in Friday’s 6:30 p.m. quarterfinal. Murray defeated Owensboro Catholic twice during the regular season, including 45-28 on Jan. 31 in the championship game of the All “A” Classic state tournament.
Jordan Brock had 19 points and eight assists to lead Harlan.
