* Storyline: Defending 6-A champion Bulldogs break in 20 new starters.
* Male: After going 15-0 last year and winning their first state title since 2000, the Bulldogs must replace all 11 starters on offense and all but two on defense. Senior T.J. Thomas takes over at quarterback after seeing spot duty last year, and junior Cam Chesher also is expected to see time behind center. There are plenty of playmakers expected to emerge on offense, led by junior running back Dayveon Higgs (324 yards, eight touchdowns in 2015).
* Floyd Central: The Highlanders finished 4-6 last year, losing their final five games after a 4-1 start. Junior quarterback Matthew Weimer and junior running back Jason Cundiff lead the offense. Cundiff (6 feet, 174 pounds) was a defensive lineman last year. The Highlanders haven’t come close against Male the past four seasons, falling 48-7 in 2012, 62-16 in 2013, 49-3 in 2014 and 41-0 last year.
