OLDHAM COUNTY (1-9 in 2015)
Coach: Mike Shatzer (third season, 4-17).
Starters back: Offense 7, defense 6.
Class: 5-A, District 3.
Player to watch: William Stanley. The 6-2, 198-pound senior wide receiver/linebacker led the Colonels in receiving yards (353) and receiving touchdowns (three) last season while also standing out on defense.
Other top players: RB/LB Thomas Grogan (Sr.), WR/DB Trey Tucker (Sr.), QB Ammon Harding (Sr.), WR/CB Jared Grantz (Sr.), RB Lucas Jones (So.).
Outlook: The Colonels look to turn things around after last season’s 1-9 campaign. “We just want to be competitive in every game, show growth and win some football games, that’s the name of the game,” Shatzer said. “We just want to make the playoffs.” Oldham County returns several of its top skill-position players from last season. That includes its quarterback (Harding, who threw for 821 yards and 4 TDs last season), leading rusher (Grogan, 446 yards & 2 TDs) and two of its top three receivers (Stanley and Tucker). Harding, however, is suspended for the first two games of the season.
