NORTH OLDHAM (3-7)
Coach: Joe Gamsky (first season).
Starters back: Offense 4, defense 4.
Class: 4-A, District 4.
Player to watch: Bryce Webb. The 6-3, 195-pound senior quarterback/defensive back/punter has a big arm and an even bigger leg. He was a C-J honorable mention All-State punter last season and could be one of the best in the nation this year.
Other top players: OT/NG Landin Jones (Sr.), RB/DB/K Jackson Wine (Sr.), WR Tanner McCoy (Jr.), FB/LB David Clifford (Sr.), OL/LB Justice Wonka (Sr.), RB/DB Jackson Fithian (Sr.), FB/LB Ryan Riggs (Jr.).
Outlook: Gamsky, who takes over for long-time coach Billy Martin, is a former South Oldham player and assistant coach. Webb will trigger an offense that Gamsky says is a “mash-up” of all those he has been a part of as a player and coach and is most comparable to the spread. The Mustangs’ backfield has been beset by injuries in the preseason, but the receiving corps should get a boost from the 6-3 McCoy, a transfer from Waggener. North’s D should be strong up the middle, led by Jones, Clifford and Wonka.
