COLLINS (4-6) AT VALLEY (6-4)
Vikings seeking first victory in playoffs since 2008
Kickoff: 8 p.m.
Next week: Winner will face Breckinridge County-Shelby County winner.
* It’s been a roller-coaster season for a Collins team that was impressive in victories over Franklin County and North Oldham but struggled offensively in its last four losses. Sophomore quarterback J.R. Lucas (1,144 yards, 15 touchdowns, 15 interceptions) and sophomore running back Na’Sean Roseberry (766 yards, seven touchdowns) lead the offense.
* Valley, which snapped a 15-game losing streak earlier this season, has clinched its first winning season since going 6-5 in 2009. The Vikings lean on a trio of offensive stars in sophomore quarterback Brayden Campos (1,883 passing yards, 21 touchdowns), junior wide receiver Devious Brooks (59 catches, 1,068 yards, 17 TDs) and junior running back Brandon Neely (763 yards, 12 TDs).
Quotable: “It would be huge for our kids and huge for our school to get a playoff victory,” Valley coach John Spiva said. “It would show the kids that we truly are moving in the right direction toward where we want to be.”
The pick: Collins 23-16.
