BULLITT CENTRAL (6-4) AT FERN CREEK (9-1)

Tigers enter with eight-game winning streak

Kickoff: 7:30 p.m.

Next week: Winner will face Doss-North Bullitt winner.

* After a 4-0 start, Bullitt Central dropped four of its final six regular-season games. The problem area was a defense that allowed an average of 47.3 points in the four defeats. The duo of senior quarterback Cameron Dukes (2,700 passing yards, 21 touchdowns, one interception) and senior receiver Chase Craddock (48 catches, 1,155 yards, 11 TDs) has been one of the state’s best this season.

* Fern Creek has nine wins for the first time since the 1998 squad finished 10-3. The Tigers have prospered behind a stingy defense that is allowing just 6.1 points per game and has posted five shutouts. Senior linebacker Lamarius Kinslow is the leader with 77 tackles (37 solo) and 23 tackles for loss. Senior Jamison White, a transfer from Seneca, has rushed for 1,073 yards and nine touchdowns.

Quotable: “When he first came in I worried about him learning the offense after coming from a new school and being a senior,” Fern Creek coach Josh Abell said of White. “But he’s really adapted well. The kid is a gamer. He can really turn it on.”

The pick: Fern Creek 38-13.
