Fans voted Butler’s Hailey Whitmer the winner of The Courier-Journal Metro Louisville Athlete of the Week Award presented by Norton Sports Health.
The junior tossed a no-hitter and struck out 11 in a 4-1 victory over Mercy on Tuesday.
Last week’s other nominees included South Oldham’s Tanner Johnson, North Oldham’s Erin Edmundson and Trinity’s J.T. Berry.
Each Monday afternoon, four new athletes will be posted here as nominees for the Athlete of the Week Award. Voting runs through 8 p.m. Sunday. The winners will be invited to the year-end Courier-Journal Courier-Journal Kentuckiana Sports Awards Program banquet presented by Norton Sports Health.
