MYKASA ROBINSON
Ashland Blazer, Sophomore, 5-7
* On the floor: Robinson averaged 18.8 points and 6.6 rebounds per game for a Kittens team that finished 14-16, falling in the first round of the 16th Region Tournament. Robinson struggled a bit with her shot during the season, hitting 41.7 percent overall and just 26.4 percent from 3-point range as the Kittens tried to overcome the loss of three senior starters from the previous season. Robinson was an honorable-mention All-State pick as a freshman.
* Off the floor: Robinson’s older sister, Alexis, was a first-team All-State pick last season and recently finished her freshman season at Colorado. Alexis played in all 30 of the Buffaloes’ games, starting 20, and averaged 7.6 points and 3.2 rebounds.
* Future: Robinson is being recruited by several top NCAA Division I programs, including Kentucky, Louisville, Virginia Tech, Dayton, Michigan State, Ohio State, Ole Miss, Arizona State, Purdue and Colorado.
* Quotable: “She’s extremely athletic and extremely competitive,” Ashland Blazer athletic director Mark Swift said. “She’s the epitome of the perfect child – respectful, humorous and with a great support system around her. She’s an outstanding student and a heck of a player.”
