KRYS MCCUNE

Manual, Senior, 6-3

* On the floor: McCune averaged 9.5 points and 8.9 rebounds and shot 50 percent from the field in helping the Crimsons go 21-8 and win the Seventh Region title. McCune suffered a torn ACL in her right knee during the first round of the Sweet 16, a 58-41 loss to Murray. She had surgery last month. McCune was the Kentucky Association of Basketball Coaches’ Seventh Region Player of the Year. She was a third-team All-State pick as a junior and an honorable-mention selection as a sophomore.

* Off the floor: McCune’s older sister, Teonia, is a 6-5 center who recently finished her senior season at Georgetown College, averaging 6.5 points, 7.4 rebounds and 2.7 blocks. She transferred to Georgetown from Wright State, where she played in eight games as a redshirt freshman during the 2012-13 season.

* Future: McCune has signed with West Virginia.

* Quotable: “It was sad and unfortunate what happened to her and to end her career that way, but she’s definitely been a big part of what we’ve done the three years I’ve been here,” Manual coach Jeff Sparks said. “The presence she had with the team in the locker room and on the floor was huge. It’s going to be really tough to replace that. We’re losing a good player and losing a great kid.”
