Bowling Green’s Tre Fant
TRE FANT
BOWLING GREEN, DB
Height/weight: 6-2/170.
Year: Senior.
College: Likely will head to a junior college with the hopes of joining a Football Bowl Subdivision team in the future.
Why he’s on the team: While splitting time between cornerback and safety, Fant posted 28 tackles (12 solo) and nine interceptions, returning three of them for touchdowns. He scored a touchdown on offense (24-yard reception), defense (30-yard interception return) and special teams (45-yard punt return) in a 56-13 victory over Grayson County. He is the younger brother of Nacarius Fant, who won Kentucky’s Mr. Football award in 2013 and now is a sophomore wide receiver at Western Kentucky.
Coach’s take: “I’m tickled to death with the kind of year he had, but I’m more proud of where he’s come as a person. Most of his interceptions came early in the season because people stopped throwing his way. I think he’ll be a good Division I player. He’s long, he’s athletic and 6-2 corners are not in great abundance.” — Kevin Wallace
