BOYLE COUNTY (10-1) AT CENTRAL (9-2)
Big matchup between two of top teams in Class 3-A
Kickoff: 7:30 p.m.
Next week: Winner will face Garrard County-Lexington Catholic winner.
* No. 10 Boyle County knocked off Waggener 42-14 last week as senior Corey Swanner rushed for 167 yards and four touchdowns on 27 carries. Swanner (6 feet, 210 pounds) has rushed for 1,028 yards and 18 touchdowns this season. Senior quarterback Josiah Robbins has completed 60 percent of his passes for 2,177 yards and 27 touchdowns with nine interceptions.
* Central enters with a nine-game winning streak after defeating Western Hills 21-6 last week. Senior Stephen Jones carried 20 times for 105 yards and two touchdowns. Yellowjackets coach Ty Scroggins said Jones should have some help in the backfield against Boyle County as junior Corey Johnson is expected to return after missing two games with a broken hand.
Quotable: “It’s a typical Chuck Smith-coached team,” Scroggins said of Boyle County. “We have to know where to be on every snap of the football. They’re not the biggest team we’ve played, but they’re probably one of the most disciplined teams we’ve played.”
The pick: Central 27-23.
