Trinity beat St. X 20-15 on Oct. 2 at Papa John’s Cardinal Stadium as Jailen Reed rushed for 144 yards and three touchdowns – all in the first half. Trinity’s defense sealed the victory with three interceptions in the second half.
Male won 43-7 at Manual on Oct. 23 as Bulldogs quarterback Hayden Shelton passed for 186 yards and two touchdowns. Crimsons coach Oliver Lucas said Friday his team is looking forward to another chance at the Bulldogs.
“We’re not going to forfeit the game; we’re going to show up,” said Lucas, who has announced he will step down as Manual’s coach after the playoffs. “You’re talking about a great team. We have to play a perfect game in order to beat them. But, hey, we’ve yet to play our best game.”
