Notre Dame's Hentz named Kentucky's Miss Volleyball - Three from Assumption named first-team All-State

Notre Dame’s Morgan Hentz has been named Miss Volleyball by the Kentucky Volleyball Coaches Association.

Hentz, a senior outside hitter who has committed to Stanford, helped the Pandas go 33-6 this season and reach the semifinals of the state tournament, where they lost to eventual champion Assumption on Saturday.

Hentz also earned Class 3-A Player of the Year honors. Christian Academy’s Caroline Rassenfoss was named Class 2-A Player of the Year, and Allen Central’s Katie Kendrick earned Class A honors.

Nine players from the Louisville area received first-team All-State honors – Assumption’s Allie Gregory, Shelby Olsen and Kara Shacklette; Sacred Heart’s Paige Hammons and Anna Zwiebel; Christian Academy’s Rassenfoss; North Oldham’s Casey Foote; Mercy’s Morgan Elmore; and Presentation’s Jalen Story.

The KVCA also recognized its top players and coaches in each region. Players of the Year from the Louisville area are Mercy’s Morgan Elmore (Sixth Region), Sacred Heart’s Anna Zwiebel (Seventh Region) and North Oldham’s Casey Foote (Eighth Region).

Taking Coach of the Year honors were Mercy’s Matt Thomerson (Sixth Region), Presentation’s Tom Sawyer (Seventh Region) and North Oldham’s Brett Versen (Eighth Region).
