Player to watch: Sophomore defensive end Stephon Herron (6-4, 220 pounds) will make an instant impact after transferring from New Albany. Herron posted 75 tackles, including five sacks, and blocked three kicks as a freshman at New Albany and already has scholarship offers from Kentucky, Louisville, Indiana and Tennessee.

Outlook: There will be a lot of new faces in the starting lineup this season, but there’s also a lot of talent among those new faces. Blackburn has played quarterback in the Trinity system since he was a freshman and brings a steady hand to the position. Jovan Smith and Thomas are complementary backs who both will get plenty of carries, and the receiving corps is deep. With Herron, Jackson and McDuffey, the defensive line may be the state’s best, and Eskins and Bethel provide leadership in the secondary. Trinity enters the season ranked No. 19 in the nation in USA Today’s preseason Super 25.
