Players to watch: Senior safety Alec Brothers is one of the top defensive backs in the area and now is jockeying to be the Colts starter at quarterback this season, too. Senior RB/DB Austin Tharp led the team in rushing and receiving yards last season and will lead a stable of experienced backs to propel the offense.
Other top players: WR Mitch Sirohman (Sr.), FB Gilly Simpson (Sr.), QB Brayden Recktenwald (Sr.), CB James Tobin (Sr.).

Outlook: Despite having eight holes to fill on defense, Davis is confident the Colts will once again reload – and not rebuild – as they open play in their brand-new stadium. The coaching staff had similar challenges facing them after winning a state title. “We were pretty excited when we came in after the (intrasquad) scrimmage,” he said. The Colts return their top three running backs from last season, which should help the offense as they try to find out who takes over for Austin Johnson (now at Louisville) under center.
