Assumption No. 1 in KVCA's preseason Top 25 - Mercy comes in at No. 2, Sacred Heart at No. 3

Defending state champion Assumption High School is No. 1 in the Kentucky Volleyball Coaches Association’s preseason Top 25.

The Rockets finished 34-7 last season, beating Owensboro Catholic in the state final. Assumption features six players who already have committed to colleges – senior Lexie Hamilton (Louisville), senior Brooke Moore (Austin Peay), senior Jacqueline Askin (Bowling Green), senior Ana Crockett (South Carolina-Aiken), junior Kayla Kaiser (Georgia Tech) and junior Payton Frederick (Western Kentucky).

Mercy is No. 2 in the preseason poll, and Sacred Heart is No. 3.

The high school volleyball season will begin Monday around Kentucky.
