After a rainy afternoon and more rain in the forecast Thursday night, the St. Xavier-Trinity high school baseball game scheduled for the University of Louisville’s Jim Patterson Stadium has been canceled.
Trinity athletic director Rob Saxton said no makeup date has been set.
The game was to match two of the state’s top teams, as Trinity (15-5-1) is No. 8 in the coaches’ Top 20 and St. Xavier (11-8) is No. 11.
The teams already met this season, with the Shamrocks posting a 7-3 victory over the host Tigers on March 19.
Trinity is scheduled to return to action at 7:30 p.m. Friday, facing Lafayette at Ballard High. St. X is scheduled to play a doubleheader at Madison Central on Saturday, starting at 11 a.m.
