Patrick Sullivan, a 2010 St. Xavier High School graduate, has been named the new head coach of the Tigers’ golf program.
Sullivan replaces Dan Utley, who stepped down in February to become the PGA Head Golf Professional at Owl Creek Country Club. Utley led the Tigers to four state championships, including the last two.
Sullivan was a three-year varsity letterman for the Tigers and a member of the 2009 squad that won the state championship. He’s a 2014 graduate of Bellarmine University, where he was a member of the golf team for four seasons. He was an assistant coach at St. X last season.
Brandon Waldrop, a 2001 St. X graduate, has been named the Tigers’ associate head coach after serving as an assistant last season. Waldrop was the 1999 individual state champion as a junior and helped St. X win the team title. He’s a 2005 graduate of the University of Kentucky, where he played golf for three seasons.
“We are excited that Patrick and Brandon … have agreed to lead the Tigers after serving as assistants in the program over the past two seasons,” St. X athletic director Alan Donhoff said. “I am looking forward to another great year for our golf program in 2016.”
