Taylor County High School senior Quentin Goodin has been named the Gatorade Kentucky Boys Basketball Player of the Year.
A 6-foot-3 guard who has signed with Xavier University, Goodin is averaging 23.1 points, 7.9 rebounds, 4.8 assists and 2.9 steals for a Taylor County team that will face Mason County at 6:30 p.m. Thursday in the first round of the Whitaker Bank/KHSAA Sweet 16 at Rupp Arena.
“Quentin Goodin has been one of the most dominating players in the Fifth Region the last four years and one of the best players that has come through our region in a long time,” Campbellsville coach Tim Davis said in a news release.
Off the court, Goodin has a 3.62 grade-point average and is a member of the National Beta Club and the Fellowship of Christian Athletes.
The Gatorade award recognizes athletic excellence, high academic achievement and exemplary character on and off the court.
Goodin now is a finalist for the Gatorade National Boys Basketball Player of the Year honor to be announced later this month.
