HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. – Manual High School’s Krys McCune suffered an injury to her right knee during the first quarter of Thursday’s game against Murray in the first round of the St. Elizabeth Healthcare/KHSAA Sweet 16 at BB&T Arena.
Valerie Dorsey, McCune’s mother, said doctors told her McCune likely suffered a torn anterior cruciate ligament. Dorsey said McCune would visit a doctor in Louisville on Thursday night.
McCune, a 6-foot-3 senior who has signed with West Virginia, went down with 2:43 left in the first quarter. She had two points, two rebounds and a block at the time of her injury.
McCune, who was named the Seventh Region Player of the Year by the Kentucky Association of Basketball Coaches, is a finalist for Kentucky’s Miss Basketball award. She entered the game averaging 9.5 points and 8.9 rebounds.
Manual led Murray 29-28 at halftime.
