University of Indianapolis senior and Assumption High School product Morgan Foley tied the NCAA all-division record for strikeouts in a seven-inning softball game Saturday, fanning the maximum 21 batters in a 2-0 no-hit win against Hillsdale College at the Music City Invitational.
The All-America pitcher surpassed the previous Division II mark of 20, shared by Dori Stankewitz (Florida Southern, 1987) and Hannah Perryman (Missouri-St. Louis, 2014).
Foley led all of Division II with 457 strikeouts last season while leading UIndy to an NCAA DII Championship appearance. She entered the 2016 season as the NCAA active leader (all divisions) in career Ks.
As a sophomore, the ex-Rockets pitcher recorded 30 strikeouts in a 13-inning matchup with Rockhurst.
