Owen County’s Carson Williams and Simon Kenton’s Ally Niece have been named the Eighth Region Players of the Year in a vote of the region’s basketball coaches.
Williams, a 6-foot-6 senior who has signed with Northern Kentucky University, is averaging 26.2 points and 10.6 rebounds for the Rebels (27-3).
Niece, a 5-9 sophomore, is averaging 21.2 points and 5.8 rebounds for the Pioneers (20-5).
South Oldham’s Steve Simpson and Owen County’s Devin Duvall shared Coach of the Year honors on the boys side. Walton-Verona’s Mark Clinkenbeard was named girls Coach of the Year.
