Spencer McKinney scored a game-high 20 points and added seven rebounds to lead the Danville High School boys basketball team to a 75-43 victory over Shawnee on Thursday in the first round of the All “A” Classic state tournament at the Frankfort Convention Center.
John Roney added 15 points, nine rebounds and five assists for the Admirals (11-9), who advanced to face Newport Central Catholic in Friday’s 6:30 p.m. quarterfinal. NewCath defeated Lexington Christian 69-48 in another first-round game Thursday.

Danville shot 46.7 percent (28 of 60) and won the rebounding battle 46-32.
Jakobe Wharton had 13 points and five rebounds to lead Shawnee (5-12), which shot just 30 percent (18 of 60).
