Former coaches Steven Tompkins of Trinity and Rick Dotson of Butler were among a five-member class inducted into the Kentucky High School Baseball Coaches Association’s Hall of Fame on Saturday.
Tompkins posted a 282-138 record in 12 seasons as Trinity’s coach from 2013-14. He won regional titles in 2004, 2005 and 2009.
“You don’t coach for the individual awards, but to be even be mentioned with some of the great minds in Kentucky baseball, this is quite an honor and I will cherish this award,” Tompkins said in a news release.
Dotson was an assistant baseball coach at DeSales for 10 seasons before serving as Butler’s head coach from 1995-2004, winning a regional title in 2002.
The other inductees were Nelson Faris of Bourbon County, Mike Martino of Ashland Blazer and Russell and Danny Wood of Estill County.
