* Fern Creek 59, Bowling Green 47: The No. 16 Tigers (6-2) led 33-24 at halftime, saw the No. 2 Purples (6-1) take a 41-40 lead after three quarters and then closed the game with a 12-3 run to secure the victory.
Ahmad Price’s 3-pointer at the 7:40 mark gave Fern Creek the lead for good, 43-41, with 7:40 remaining. DaiQuan Jones had two straight baskets, including a dunk to give the Tigers a 51-44 edge with 3:08 left.
Anthony Wales scored 21 points to lead Fern Creek, which had lost two straight. Coach James Schooler also announced before the game that star sophomore Trey Hill (10.8 ppg, 5.8 rpg) is transferring out of the program.
“This is the biggest win in my career at Fern Creek,” said Schooler, in his third season. “First time ever in the KOB, losing two games back to back, facing some adversity. When it got tough, guys stuck together. It was special.”
Terry Taylor had 12 points, 10 rebounds and three blocks for Bowling Green, last season’s state runner-up. The Purples shot just 37 percent (17 of 46) and committed 19 turnovers to Fern Creek’s 12.
