Fans voted DeSales football player Alec Brothers the winner of The Courier-Journal Metro Louisville Athlete of the Week Award presented by Norton Sports Health. The junior safety had eight tackles and also returned an interception 15 yards for a touchdown as the Colts beat Christian Academy 37-18 in the Class 2-A, Region Two final.
Last week’s other nominees included Male wide receiver Zackary Smith, Fern Creek receiver Lamarius Kinslow and Shelby County football player Michael Perry.
Each Monday afternoon, four new athletes will be posted here as nominees for the Athlete of the Week Award. Voting runs through 8 p.m. Sunday. The winners will be invited to the year-end Courier-Journal Courier-Journal Kentuckiana Sports Awards Program banquet presented by Norton Sports Health.
