North Oldham High School senior kicker Jakson Wine has committed to the University of Louisville as a preferred walk-on.
Wine said he also was recruited by Illinois, Virginia, Western Kentucky, Iowa State and Charlotte but that his decision came down to U of L and Illinois, and he said the Cardinals were his best option all along.

Wine said he hopes to potentially earn a scholarship job at Louisville if he can win a starting job. He’s rated the No. 1 kicker in the state and the No. 137 kicker nationally in the 2017 class by ChrisSailerKicking.com.
Wine’s father, Robby Wine, played basketball at Louisville in the 1990s, and his mom, the former Susan Hennessy, was a U of L cheerleader. Robby Wine proposed on his senior night.
Wine made four field goals and eight extra points this season. He also was North Oldham’s top receiver, making 22 catches for 533 yards and six touchdowns.
