Former Sacred Heart field hockey standout Maddie Latino finished her sophomore season at Indiana as one of the Big Ten’s top offensive threats.
She led the Hoosiers (9-10, 5-3) to last week’s Big Ten Tournament quarterfinals, where she scored her team’s lone goal in a 3-1 loss to Penn State. The forward/midfielder finished the season with team-highs in goals (10), assists (8), points (28) and game-winning goals (3).
Those numbers were good enough to land her among the conference’s elite in points (7th), goals (t-9th), assists (10th), points per game (5th with 1.65 ppg), goals per game (8th with 0.61) and assists per game (0.47).
Sixteen teams are still alive in the NCAA tournament, including Louisville. The Cardinals play at Connecticut at 11:30 a.m. Saturday.
