A trio of boys soccer players from Louisville have received the top postseason honors from the Kentucky High School Soccer Coaches Association.
Collegiate’s Haji Abdikadir (Offensive Player of the Year), Trinity’s Cameron Smith (Defensive Player of the Year) and Kentucky Country Day’s Cole Gallagher (Goalkeeper of the Year) were recognized as the top players in the state.
Abdikadir, a junior who has committed to the University of Louisville, posted 40 goals and 12 assists for Collegiate this season.
Smith, a senior who has committed to U of L, had seven goals and three assists and anchored a Trinity defense that allowed just 14 goals and posted nine shutouts.
Gallagher, a senior, posted four shutouts for KCD this season.
Coach of the Year honors went to Daviess County’s Doug Sandifer (Large Public), Pendleton County’s Aaron Harper (Small Public) and Collegiate’s Chad Wozniak (Private/Parochial).
The Golden Boot awards for most goals this season went to Webster County’s Hilcia Urrutia and Franklin-Simpson’s Caleb Wilson. Both scored 58 goals. North Hardin’s Micah Linscott received the Silver Boot award for the most assists (36).
Abdikadir, Smith and Gallagher were among five players from Louisville who were named to the first-team All-State West squad (regions 1-8). Manual’s Dylan Barth and Collegiate’s Cameron Wheeler also made the team.
