Soccer, volleyball, field hockey postseasons resume Monday

The semistate round of the high school soccer postseason is set for Monday and Tuesday around Kentucky.

Girls semistate games are scheduled for Monday, with No. 1-ranked and defending state champion Sacred Heart (16-3-1) set to host Mercy (11-11-2) in the Semistate Four game at 7 p.m. The Valkyries beat the Jaguars 10-0 on Aug. 29.

Boys semistate games will be played Tuesday. No. 2 Collegiate (23-1-1) will host No. 25 Butler (19-4-1) at 7 p.m. in the Semistate Four game. The Titans beat the Bears 7-1 on Sept. 8. The Semistate Three game will match North Oldham (12-7-1) at No. 19 North Hardin (17-8-1) at 7 p.m. The Mustangs and Trojans did not meet during the regular season.

Semistate winners advance to the state tournament quarterfinals set for Saturday in Lexington.

Here are the semistate pairings (all games scheduled for 7 p.m. local time):

* Girls: Semistate One – Greenwood at Graves County; Two – Henderson County at Owensboro Catholic; Three – Simon Kenton vs. Bethlehem at Nelson County: Four – Mercy at Sacred Heart; Five – West Jessamine at Notre Dame; Six – Clark County at Lexington Catholic; Seven – Russell at Corbin; Eight – Perry County Central at Lawrence County.

* Boys: Semistate One – South Warren at McCracken County; Two – Hopkinsville at Daviess County; Three – North Oldham at North Hardin; Four – Butler at Collegiate; Five – Mercer County at Covington Catholic; Six – Campbell County-Montgomery County winner at Paul Dunbar; Seven – East Carter at South Laurel; Eight – Perry County Central at Johnson Central.

VOLLEYBALL REGIONALS GET GOING ON MONDAY

Volleyball regional tournaments will start Monday around Kentucky.

In the Sixth and Seventh regions, district champions will host quarterfinals on Monday. Semifinals and finals will be played at Valley High School.

No. 1 Sacred Heart will host Kentucky Country Day at 6 p.m. Monday. No. 2 Assumption, the defending state champion, will host No. 17 Manual at 6 p.m. Monday. The Eighth Region Tournament will be played at Collins, with No. 8 North Oldham and No. 25 Oldham County the top teams.

Regional champions advance to the state tournament set for Nov. 4-6 at Valley.

Here are the pairings for the local regionals:

SIXTH REGION

* Monday – Pleasure Ridge Park (14-14) at Bullitt Central (20-14), 6; Doss (11-24) at Mercy (27-10), 6; Bullitt East (21-12) at Holy Cross (17-18), 6; North Bullitt (9-21) at Butler (19-12), 6

* Tuesday (at Valley) – Pleasure Ridge Park-Bullitt Central winner vs. Doss-Mercy winner, 6; Bullitt East-Holy Cross winner vs. North Bullitt-Butler winner, 7:30

* Thursday (at Valley) – Final, 6

SEVENTH REGION

* Monday – Manual (19-14) at Assumption (32-5), 6; Atherton (23-12) at Christian Academy (26-9), 6; Kentucky Country Day (22-11) at Sacred Heart (33-4), 6; Male (22-13) at Presentation (25-7), 6

* Wednesday (at Valley) – Manual-Assumption winner vs. Atherton-Christian Academy winner, 6; Kentucky Country Day-Sacred Heart winner vs. Male-Presentation winner, 7:30

* Thursday (at Valley) – Final, 8

EIGHTH REGION

At Collins

* Monday – Simon Kenton (14-21) vs. North Oldham (24-9), 6; Shelby County (19-11), vs. Walton-Verona (28-7), 7:30

* Tuesday – Eminence (10-13) vs. Collins (25-9), 6; Oldham County (19-18) vs. Owen County (23-12), 7:30

* Wednesday – Simon Kenton-North Oldham winner vs. Eminence Collins winner, 6; Shelby County-Walton-Verona winner vs. Oldham County-Owen County winner, 7:30

* Thursday – Final, 7

FIELD HOCKEY TOURNAMENT TO RESUME AT BELLARMINE

The state field hockey tournament will resume Monday with semifinals at Bellarmine University’s Frazier Stadium.

Christian Academy (21-4-1) will face Manual (19-5-2) at 6 p.m., and defending champion Sacred Heart (21-5) will face Assumption (22-3-1) at 7:45 p.m.

The winners will meet in the championship game at 6 p.m. Wednesday at Bellarmine.
