Manual High School runners swept the individual titles during Thursday’s Jefferson County Public Schools Cross Country Championships held at E.P. “Tom” Sawyer State Park.
Manual senior Yared Nuguse won the boys race with a time of 15 minutes, 25.35 seconds, breaking the meet record Manual’s David Hamm set in 2009 by 33 seconds. Male’s Dylan Allen was the runner-up with a time of 16:13.56.
Manual junior Alena Sapienza-Wright took the girls title with a time of 18:48.67. Manual senior Emma Kuntz was second in 19:23.18.
Eastern’s boys took the team title with 47 points, just ahead of runner-up Manual (51). Manual won the girls team title with 21 points, and Ballard was second with 52.
