BUTLER (2-7) AT ST. XAVIER (5-3)
Tigers trying to clinch No. 2 seed in Class 6-A, District Three
Kickoff: 7:30 p.m.
* Butler saw its losing streak reach four games in a 28-26 loss to Eastern last week. After reaching a regional final each of the past four seasons, the Bears are facing their first losing season since going 5-6 in 2010. Butler is 2-25 all time-against St. Xavier, recording its only victories in back-to-back playoff games in 1979 and 1980.
* St. Xavier’s defense forced five turnovers, turning two into touchdowns by Ian Kania and Jack Kronk, but they weren’t enough in a 27-24 loss to No. 1 Male last week. The No. 5-ranked Tigers are led by junior quarterback Desmond Ridder, who has passed for 939 yards and six touchdowns and also is the team’s leading rusher (572 yards, nine touchdowns).
The pick: St. Xavier 35-0.
