For the second consecutive week, South Oldham High School freshman Keaton Martin stole the show.

Martin rushed for 274 yards and a ridiculous six touchdowns on 20 carries as the Dragons defeated Bullitt East, 52-27, at Bullitt East High School. With the win, the Dragons improved to 7-0 for the first time in school history.

“I tell you I’m just along for the ride,” South Oldham coach Jamie Reed said of Martin. “We know he’s a good player and he works hard. Our offensive line and wide receivers have done a great job just blocking. He’s a special player and we hope he continues to get better. He’s got a really good support system around him and they’ve all bought in.”

In total, South Oldham rushed for 354 yards and threw for 204 yards. Hunter Purdue led the Chargers (2-6) with 159 yards and a touchdown on 20 carries.

Bullitt East opened the scoring early in the first quarter on a Zak Kessler run, but 1:39 before the end of the quarter, Martin busted out a 38-yard run to tie the score. Martin soon after scored on a 45-yard touchdown to put South Oldham ahead for good.

“I was reading the holes pretty well,” Martin said. “Everything came together, the offensive line was doing what they were supposed to do, and I was just doing what I was taught.”
