Owesnboro Catholic (34-8) survived three match points in the fourth set and then took the tiebreaker from South Warren (34-7) to win 3-2 (18-25, 21-25, 25-17, 28-26, 15-10) on Saturday at Valley High School in the KHSAA state volleyball tournament quarterfinals.
Down 24-21 in the fourth set, Natalie Jones had two of their 22 kills in a three-point span to help Owensboro Catholic tie the set. After a Madison Jenkins kill, one of her 22, gave South Warren match point, the Aces took four of the next five points to force the tiebreaker. Jones had three kills and an assist in that span.
Owensboro Catholic advances to face Henderson County (32-7) in the 7 p.m. semifinal match.
